Variables:
Independent Variables
My independent variables are the amount of water added and the amount of food coloring I use. These are my independents because I can change the amount of water I give to the plant if necessary, as well as the food coloring. If the plant is dying of thirst, I can up the water amounts. If it seems that the food coloring isn’t showing up, I can add a few more drops to the water.
dependent Variables
My dependents are the plant height, the plant color, and the plant’s petals. The height will increase as the plant grows, which I cannot change. The petals will blossom as the plant decides its proper time. The color of the plant depends on the color of food coloring that I use and it may not appear at all.
Constants
My constants are the amount of soil, sunlight, and seeds. The amount of soil that I start with will not be changed in any way because it is sufficient enough to last the two-month period. I cannot affect the amount of sunlight except by putting the Calla Lily in a bright area. I will only place a specific amount of seeds in the beginning and no more after that.
